Dawn of the Red Swallow was an alternate history novel published by Leeroy Plembeck, a WolvesLandian author who always had a knack for alternate history scenarios, even those which might not have been entirely plausible. It was published several years after the war had come and gone, and outran similar alternate history novels in part due to its attention to detail and surprisingly believable breaks from canon.
Plot[]
DRS is a “what if the FoxLandian Federation defeated the WolvesLandian Republic” scenario. For the most part, events leading up to the Fox-WolveLandian War are relatively the same. Emperor Error II, who is in power because his father passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, takes an anti-WolvesLandian stance on the conflict, and supports the FoxLandian Federation in diplomacy only.
Without help from the Empire of ErrorLandia, WolvesLandia stands alone for the first time in at most a thousand years. They lose planet after planet to their former ally until they reached Jema, at which point a possible conclusion to the war could be met. The FoxLandian Federation, who had the technological and now numerical edge over the WolvesLandian Republic, forces them to surrender under their terms. A worried Brendan Wolves who was scared of a coup by one of his family members was forced to seek an end to the war by any means necessary, but this simultaneously ruined his reputation being effectively branded as a coward.
Now that the FoxLandian Federation has taken their place as the galactic superpower, the WolvesLandian Republic has been shook to its very core; embarrassed, heartbroken, and increasingly unstable with chaos bound to ensue. The Empire of ErrorLandia dwells uncontested and enjoyed a golden age beyond compare having been left to their own devices. They seek diplomatic cooperation with the Allied Houses of Rhund to further each other’s ambitions and protect eachother in the event of further aggression by either side.
